I would be very surprised if this took place in New Zealand. 1 - New Zealanders use the word 'arse' instead of 'ass'. 2 - New Zealand doesn't have states, it has provinces, though it is possible that the author of the email is using the word 'state' to refer to the country in its entirety. However, it is unlikely that this is the case.

How can you hate on Americans coming to the defense of their own country? Comment after comment was bashing America and a handful of people stick up for the U.S. and you continue by saying "No wonder you are the most hated nation." Maybe it has to do with the fact that everyone in the world looks to us for leadership. How many leaders/rulers have you paid attention to over the last few years? I'd bet only a handful and I guarantee that you paid attention to whatever the U.S. was doing in any given situation. Whether you pay attention for guidance or not, it doesn't matter. I agree with all those people who think Americans are dumb: being a world power for decades and decades doesn't require any type of cunning or intelligence at all! Also, I think any country that has a nearly unblemished war-winning record must be populated with morons, because only morons can be that successful at something that requires strategy, good infrastructure, and well-trained citizens. There's no legal cause of action for having law chairs in your own yard in the USA, either.

The world hates the USA because they've arbitrarily decided that we suck. The reality is that no first world nation is really any better or worse than any other first world nation. Sure, some things are subtly different, but there's not a lot of differences.

And finally, we usually don't use our money to hire foreign scientists; they come to school here, and then get a job here afterwards.

But, you can keep believing whatever it is you want to believe; just remember that your sense of national superiority puts you on equal footing with the "inferior" Americans.
