Computers...Bigger Are Better?

Old Guy: I'm looking to get computers, for the house. Email the grandkids.

Clerk: Absolutely. We've got awesome premium desktop packages. (points to huge desktops.)

Old Guy: One's for my wife. Aren't smaller things, laptops, more popular now?

Clerk: No. Big is coming back, like with SUVs, trucks.

Old Guy: SUVs aren't selling like they used to, I understand.

Clerk: Right. So, this package here comes with state of the art media and entertainment, graphics, audio.

Old Guy: We need them for email mostly.

Clerk: Absolutely. Email is perfect.

Young Guy: (joins them. he's big) Grandpa, how's it going?

Old Guy: Good. This young man.... (turns to clerk; clerk is gone.)...overhear more

What's funny to me is what a moron the sales clerk is. Big SUVs are hot? Uh, no, even gramps knew that.

What do you expect from sales guys like this? Integrity? Not much of that around anywhere

Ha ha ha. I've sold more

- submitted by salesguy on 04/28/2007

Ha ha ha. I've sold more lemons to stupid customers than I can remember. I'm supposed to give them honest service? Don't think so. I work for minimum wage. I don't think I graduated high school (maybe I did, uh, maybe yea). My job is selling, too bad for you all, good lukk.

I do love salesguy and dream

- submitted by cindifrca on 04/28/2007

I do love salesguy and dream for trailer park heaven. Go to super stores for computers you're asking to be ripped off. The sales people know nothing about their products. Plus their only job is to sell as much as possible quickly quiuckly quickly.

They're giant slime. Everybody shoujld go in with this grandpa's grandson, we'd be a lot better off. Have great weekend, y'all

great great. i observed

- submitted by getoverit on 04/29/2007

great great. i observed something similar at a best buy a while ago and it stepped in. the sales person was pissed but i told him i was reporting him to the mgr. he pleaded with me not to. he was in tears almost! he ended up comping the customer he was rippign off with dvds. very nice.

The sales people at the dept

- submitted by assumerisk on 04/30/2007

The sales people at the dept stores near us are as close to brain dead as you could be without being unconscious. For me the big surprise here is the sales clerk had the ener5gy to put his sentences together.

Big is back. I jost love

- submitted by laugher on 04/30/2007

i went to one of these electronic stores and the sales person told me i should buy a desk top and that i could bring it with me on vacations or when i travel. i swear to god, he said that. all i could do was laugh

You can bring the desk tops

- submitted by Anonymous on 04/30/2007

You can bring the desk tops with you, each family member carries a section and it's all so convenient, couldn't be easier

Actually, while I'm not good

- submitted by Anonymous on 05/23/2007

Actually, while I'm not good with computers myself, my brothers are (one of them is a mechanical engineer) and they put together their own computers. Computer nerds like my brothers know that desktops are better of quality than laptops. Laptops don't last as long. And big desktops have better cooling systems. See, if it was me selling the computers, I would've sold the big one to the old man! That should've been me!!! haha, jk. I love senior citizens, that's why I'll be taking care of them as their np.

Last poster makes an

- submitted by computerist on 05/24/2007

Last poster makes an intersting point. But the old man still may not need the truck sized computer especially if he just wants email. Some laptops do get extremely hot. But if maintained regularly and not overused they can last for a long time.

Desktops hands-down

- submitted by Anonymous on 09/19/2009

Desktops hands-down outperform in graphics, and can't be beat for upgradeability. Having said that, this guy clearly didn't need either. The sales guy wasn't just scum, he sucked at sales too. First step in sales is to listen to your customer's needs--and he failed at step one. :P
