Could This Be the Stupidest Invention of the Decade?

It might be the stupidest. Or not -- because there are so many stupids out there. But how 'bout this--the product out there that most sounds like a total joke and should be a total joke, but isn't a joke at all. The Ropeless Jump Rope. It's yours at the new you-can't-afford-not-to-buy-it sales price of $49.99 (not including shipping, handling and other fees).

Look, we're not going to get into the fact that these jump rope handles -- yes, they give you handles, no rope -- are designed with some functionality. Are they necessary, do they do anything that countless other things couldn't do just as easily and more cheaply...we don't think so. But most importantly they look, in action, incomprehensibly idiotic. And that has to count for something, doesn't it?

Yeah, for the uncoordinated, jumping rope may not be the easiest exercise in the world. But you want to jump rope without the rope -- i.e., kind of hop in place or something -- just do it. Put some music on, count in your head, pretend you're waving your wrists around. But handles, at $49.00+...brilliant -- and we mean that in the most respectfully disdainful way possible.
