Who Needs A MacBook ...

We love this pic. Kudos to the guy for his creativity and sense of humor...not to mention the strength of his lower back.

Would we want this instead of our MacBook Pro or Sony VAIO? No (even if we had one, which we don't). But as a back-up in case our roommate or girlfriend 'borrows' our laptop and doesn't return it? (Well, no still...But it does makes us laugh our butts off...)

The First IBM-PC Compatible Portable

Apple's First Portable -- Apple IIc

(source) This one was launched in 1984, never really caught on (for a variety of reasons) and was disbanded in 1998. Apple's first Mac portable/laptop -- the Macintosh Portable -- was launched soon after, in 1989.

Comically Awesome IBM TV/Video Ad Touting Its New Portable

This ad features a very early IBM,  which weighed in at 50 pounds; and it wonderfully (and with straight-ahead sincerity) touts all the benefits of mainly small business computing. Wait for the cow moo in the background -- even farmers can benefit from (and understand!) computers, the ad makes sure we understand. ...read more rants
